Gloucester

September 15, 2018 – Despite the craziness of Hurricane Florence down South, the seas and winds are calm enough for us to make our leg to Gloucester to catch up with our old neighbors from Westport, Kevin and Diane Connolly, now retired to their Summer home in Gloucester and in time to rendezvous with Doug and Krista Bell from Melbourne on their retirement walkabout.  We grabbed a mooring ball off Niles Beach, opposite some pretty fancy beachside homes.

Gloucester was made famous by The Perfect Storm, Sebastian Junger’s bestseller subsequently made into a film.  We made the mandatory pilgrimage to the Crow’s Nest (where the Andrea Gail crew gathered before their ill-fated fishing trip) – a nice local pub with friendly locals — and crashed the Connolly’s bridge evening.
