Bye-Bye Branford, Hello New York

November 11, 2017 – The week stay at Brewer Bruce & Johnson Marina in Branford is uneventfully filled with catching up with friends and family, uncluttering the house for eventual sale, and culminating with Karin’s nephew Logan’s first performance in a Yale drama production of At The Table, a wonderfully entertaining and thought provoking play on cultural, racial and sexual identity – and who has standing to be “at the table” for such discussions.  Turns out Logan has real talent.

The 50A 240V shore power line is only delivering 120V, which we attribute to the shore power supply losing a leg and start up Emmanou’s generator to keep the heating running as ice has started to form on deck.  Time to head South.

Leaving Branford at first light

We get to New York Liberty Landing Marina in time to welcome on board Seila Mosqueira (Executive Director of a New Haven not-for-profit affordable-home developer that Thach is involved with) and her husband Angel, Tony’s family, including Birthday Boy Brother-in-Law Frank (who runs a Knowledge Is Power (KIP) academy in the Bronx) and surprise guest Sarah Lee (not of the cake fame, but a Wharton classmate of Thach’s – after a long and very successful Wall Street career, Sarah had turned to helping Frank run his school).  Sarah made the tortuous social connection when Frank mentioned he’s going to see “Thach and Karin” on their boat.  Emmanou takes the assembled revelers out into New York harbor for an evening cruise.

Strangely the shore power at Liberty Landing is also only delivering 120V so the hard-working generator is asked to keep chugging…
