August 15, 2017 — We continued up the East River, through Hell’s Gate (under the Triboro/RFK Bridge) and into the Long Island Sound and anchored up in Barker Point off Sands Point on the North shore of Long Island within view of Manhattan. With the water nicely flat and no current, it was time swimming, jumping off the roof of the pilot house, and jet skiing. Befitting her half-English heritage, Josie, Tony’s 12-year old, decides to emulate Sir Don Campbell (world water speed record holder back in the 60’s) with a 55-mph flat run across the bay. Lucky for Tony that mumsy Jane was not there to witness…
We celebrate with a nice dinner onshore at Louie’s Oyster Bar & Grille, finishing off with a smoking chocolate sundae on dry ice. Why? Because we can.
