November 13, 2017 – Heading to the anchorage on the mouth of the Bohemia River West of the C&D canal, we decide instead to drop into Chesapeake City. Tony ably manages the transition from the strong current in the C&D canal into the calm waters of Chesapeake City bay only to run into the shallow mound at the entrance thereby evening up the Emmanou grounding score at 2-2 with Thach. Now old hands at grounding the boat, the crew do not panic, drop a stabilizing anchor, put in a call to USBoat Tow (now on speed dial) and wait on the rising tide. Only an hour later, and well before sundown, Emmanou is safely off the mound and anchored up, and we tender ashore to let Rosie sniff grass and to grab some crab cakes at the Chesapeake Inn.
